It’s difficult, figuring out what’s really working for you versus what you want to believe is working because otherwise it feels like money down the drain. I know I’m not immune to that, sometimes I need to finish a product, start using something else, then I’ll realise how much I loved it. So I was thinking about this recently, and decided I want to revisit the products I’ve loved and continue to love, the things that are worth it in my opinion. I’m covering skincare, haircare and some beauty in various price brackets.

Kristin Ess ‘Weightless Shine Leave-In Conditioner. An affordable favourite. My bottle has lasted ages, even though I spray generously after every wash. This sounds weird, but it makes my hair feel really flexible. Soft, bouncy, shiny, healthy. I love it, and every time I forget to use it I notice the difference.
Gisou ‘Honey Infused Hair Oil’. I bought it for myself on a special occasion. I’d been wanting to try it for forever, but wow it’s expensive. I hesitate to recommend a hair oil that costs so much, but to me it really was worth it. I’ve tried a lot of hair oils, none did as much for my hair as this one. It’s less smothering, weightlessly nourishing, it smells gorgeous and the packaging is love too. Do you need it? No. But I adore it.
Lanolips ‘101 Ointment’ is such a protective and nourishing balm, the classic version has no scent or colour and can be used in myriad ways. I always repurchase!
My Mecca Cosmetica essentials: ‘To Save Face SPF 50+’ and ‘Lip De-Luscious Glide with SPF 15’. Both have beautiful texture. The sunscreen is great for my fussy complexion when so many other sunscreens either break me out or make me feel itchy and irritated. It’s got a slight tint, not enough to show, it just keeps it from making you look like the undead. I’ve lost count of how many tubes I’ve bought. The Lip glide is a perfect combo of balm and colour, and the shade ‘Rose’ is so dreamy I bought two.
Weleda ‘Skin Food’. Another multi purpose wonder! Slather on rough dry skin before you go to bed. Put it on your cheekbones under foundation, thank me later.
Fenty Beauty ‘Match Stix Shimmer Skinstick’ in ‘Yacht Lyfe’ is quite probably the most flattering shade I’ve ever known. I’m pale and some blushes can look really garish, but this is a beautiful pink with just a hint of gold, which makes it flattering on a number of skin tones. I always feel so pretty when I wear it. Cheeks, eyelids, lips. Gorgeous.
Hourglass ‘Caution Extreme Lash Mascara’ is one I keep returning to. It doesn’t smudge or irritate my eyes, and it’s one of those mascaras that just gets better over time rather than drying out too much. Lush lashes, I can use sparingly every day or use a couple coats for a dramatic look.
I’m a big fan of Kevyn Aucion. At the moment the only foundation I’m using is ‘The Etherealist Skin Illuminating Foundation’ it was love at first sight, I’ve never enjoyed a foundation more. I’m not really a foundation person at all to be honest, but I’m hooked on this. Dewy without appearing oily, lightweight and luminous, comfortable, wears well, adjustable coverage. I wish there were more shades though, that’s the only bummer. I’m also using the Kevyn Aucoin eyelash curler and it’s the most comfortable one I’ve ever tried.
NIOD ‘Flavanone Mask’. It means business. It’s copper coloured mud that smells pretty bad, but it solves such a large number of skin issues and leaves me looking kind of poreless so I honestly don’t care that it smells weird. I can’t be without this mask.
Alpha-H is just such a great brand, and a few of the standouts I’ve been using are: ‘Liquid Gold’ which is a powerful and revitalising acid treatment, I use it at night and it does wonders. My skin looks plumper, smoother, clearer- what’s not to love? I’m also a big fan of their ‘Hyaluronic 8 Serum’, for bouncy, happy, moisturised skin.
Sunday Riley ‘Blue Moon Tranquility Cleansing Balm’ It’s blue, it’s balmy, it melts off all my makeup and I’m so sad that mine is empty now. It’s just a lovely balm, non-irritating to the eyes, and though I do use it as a first cleanse and/or with a wash cloth it’s not as inclined to leave a film as many balms are. It feels very soothing, and the tub lasts quite a long time.
Glow Lab ‘Rhubarb and Rose’ Body Wash It’s luscious fruit and floral scent that’s unusual and such a pleasure to use. I’m also keen to try their ‘Blackberry and Bay’.
Bonus! Perfumes I’m loving for Spring:
Maison Margiela ‘Replica: Lazy Sunday Morning’, Ouai ‘North Bondi’, Chanel ‘Chance’.
