A FRESH MINDSET, VEGAN LIPSTICK AND HEALTHY COOKIES!

November is National Novel Writing Month and for the sixth year in a row I’ll be writing (or attempting to write) a 50,000 word novel in 30 days. Each year it seems impossible, but it’s the most remarkable challenge and dedicating so much time to writing is a really positive experience for me. Having said that, it’s a lot of work! It’s hard to keep on top of my usual routine, but I’m finding a few quick ways to stay engaged! Here’s what I’ve been thinking about in the past week:

Kester Black is one of my favourite brands, so when I found out that as well as their lovely 10-Free vegan, cruelty free and carbon neutral nail polishes they were adding in liquid lipsticks- I was so excited!  This ethical Australian brand did not disappoint. Highly pigmented and sets comfortably with no stickiness. When I’m in a rush. a low maintenance look that boosts morale is minimal makeup, but with a bold lip. Very nice!

Lately I’ve been craving cookies, and in my quest I’ve been trying different kinds of ‘healthier’ options. Naturally Good have gluten free, vegan and very health conscious muesli cookies, great for anyone with allergies but also anyone wanting a more nourishing biscuit. Shelby’s Healthy Hedonism do several delicious choc chip options, including raspberry and white chocolate! They’re also vegan and contain no artificial sweeteners or refined sugar. Serious Food Co are the top contenders for me, with vegan cookies made of simple and delicious ingredients, they’re indulgent and and have a lovely home made feel to them. I’ll add that I’m not vegan, but all of these are enjoyable and I didn’t miss dairy at all!

One of the things I’m doing in preparation for the end of the year is a skincare no-buy till the end of the year. There are several reasons for it: Clutter stresses me out, I hate the thought of wasting anything, I want to remain conscious of the habit of consumerism and trying to counter it, and it’s an expensive time of the year already. I will say that for me, sunscreen doesn’t count as sun safety is so important and conveniently I’m running low anyway! Mecca Cosmetica and Ultra Violette both have some releases I’m very keen to try. Apart from this I’ll be making an effort to focus on products that brands have sent me and finishing off what I already have, especially some minis I’ve had kicking around. Wish me luck!
